David Levine, a British photographer spanning over four decades, began his career as an assistant in 1977. He quickly became a defining figure of 1980s pop culture, earning the moniker "
The Man Who Shot the 80s
."
Levine's work primarily focusses on music and fashion, capturing some of the most recognisable images of iconic artists like Iggy Pop, The Cure, Kylie Minogue, and Boy George. His work has played a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of an era.
In fashion, Levine has collaborated with renowned magazines, designers, and models globally. His unique style seamlessly blends the raw energy of live performances with the precision of fashion photography.
Levine's portraits have graced record sleeves and been featured in press campaigns for artists such as Kylie Minogue, ABC, Culture Club, and The Cure. His work has been published in prestigious publications like

-D. The National Portrait Gallery proudly houses several of his pieces in its permanent collection.
Levine's exhibitions have been held at esteemed venues including Hamiltons Gallery, Tom Blau Gallery, The National Portrait Gallery, and have also travelled internationally to Paris, Milan, New York, and Tokyo.
For the past 15 years, Levine has dedicated himself to teaching photography at the University of the Arts London. He works with students at London College of Fashion and participates in the Central Saint Martins Study Abroad programme.
